Public Notice: Hearings Scheduled and Public Comment Open on Redevelopment Area Designation Procedures - (12/14/2018) The Highlands Council has scheduled six public hearings and opened a public comment period to solicit comments on draft Redevelopment Area Designation procedures. Press Release: Highlands Council awarded over $4.5 million for preservation projects - (12/11/2018) The Highlands Council has been awarded a $4,675,000 grant from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service for preservation projects in the New Jersey Highlands region. This grant represents the largest single-year award ever made through the federal Highlands Conservation Act grant program. (read)

VIDEO: Sussex County Preservation Project Tour - (11/16/2018) The Highlands Council recently collaborated with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and nonprofit partners to preserve more than 2,200 acres of picturesque woodlands in Sussex County. Highlands Council preservation project helps nonprofit connect kids with nature - (11/7/2018) The Highlands Council has announced the preservation of more than 36 acres in Passaic County, on the property of Camp Vacamas, home of the nonprofit organization, Hands In 4 Youth (HI4Y). (read)

NJDEP, Highlands Council and Nonprofit Partners Preserve more than 2,200 acres - (10/10/2018) The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, New Jersey Highlands Council and nonprofit partners today announced a $5.1 million agreement preserving more than 2,200 acres of picturesque woodlands in Sussex County. Highlands Council Appoints Lisa J. Plevin as Executive Director - (7/19/2018) The New Jersey Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council has appointed Lisa J. Plevin of Parsippany to the position of Executive Director. Plevin has more than 35 years of experience in government and nonprofit leadership roles, with a focus on environmental issues. (read)

Highlands Council 2018 Land Preservation Status Report Released - (7/18/2018) The Highlands Council is pleased to present the 2018 Highlands Region Land Preservation Status Report. The report provides an updated accounting of land preservation throughout the Highlands region of New Jersey, with a focus on areas designated in the Highlands Regional Master Plan as priorities for protection.
