Press Release: Clinton Township Advances Planning Goals with Highlands Petition Approval - (6/18/2015) At its June meeting, the Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council approved a Petition for Plan Conformance from Clinton Township in Hunterdon County. The Petition covers the entire municipality, including lands in both the Highlands Preservation Area and the Highlands Planning Area, and authorizes funding to support activities related to Plan Conformance including sustainable economic development planning among others. Highlands Council Approves Boonton Township Petition, Elects Officers - (4/16/2015) At its most recent meeting, the New Jersey Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council (Highlands Council) approved its 48th Petition for Plan Conformance, adding Boonton Township in Morris County to the list of Highlands municipalities that have aligned local regulatory and planning documents with the land use and resource management requirements of the Highlands Water Protection and Planning Act and the Highlands Regional Master Plan. Highlands Council statement on the passing of former Council Member Jack Schrier - (4/7/2015) The Highlands Council today expressed deepest condolences to the family and friends of former Highlands Council Member Jack Schrier, who passed last Thursday. Mr. Schrier was one of the original 15 Highlands Council members appointed by then Governor Jim McGreevey in 2004. (read)

Press Release: Highlands Council Lauds Extension of ‘Dual Appraisal’ for Highlands Property Owners - (2/13/2015) Last week, Governor Chris Christie signed a bill extending the special appraisal process that provides greater equity for Highlands Region property owners seeking to preserve lands under the state’s Green Acres and Farmland Preservation programs. Press Release: Highlands Council Announces New HDC Purchase Program and Open Space Matching Grant Program - (1/22/2015) At its most recent meeting the Highlands Council provided details regarding a proposed new Land Owner Equity and Land Preservation Program, which includes two components: a Highlands Development Credit (HDC) Purchase Program; and an Open Space Matching Grant program. The Council voted to proceed with a process to have the program formally adopted as an administrative rule within the state. (read)
